Grandpa Lost the Barra

                                                         Grandpa lost the Barra

Two months back lion became a proud grandpa Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy and strangely the little prince seem to like only Me in the house and he would cry out loud in any hands other than of the lion, thus my rod was seized and I was grounded and entrusted a Duty to care for this Beauty giggle , since then have been very very busy changing the nappies , and singing lullabies, I was repeating it after more than a decade and I loved every bit of it Very Happy

my Grandson seem to enjoy my fishy tales

Perhaps He is thinking & designing a new lure for grandpa Wink

Two pending electricity bills finally forced me out towards my beach house in murud , the bill was paid on the same day itself and now was the time to shake that stubborn itch off my rod Wink I decided to try out a new fishy spot which I had marked on the map during the rainy season , next day left early at 5.45am and reached the place at 7am The place seems to look perfect for the kind of fish I was after , tried casting and changing lures for two hours with no results Sad not even a damn mj?? decided to take have breakfast and again resumed after 10am this time put my best lure on the line and after twenty minutes I got a gentle strike I immediately set the hook and all Hell broke loose Shocked Shocked like a Ben Johnson on steroids the fish shot towards the sea very easily stripping my line & for a moment I was like "What The FLUFF " did I forget to set the drag of my reel or what ?? No way !! I always check my drag before throwing my lures !! Thinking it to be a GT I tightened my drag and that slowed him down now he kept veering to my left and right still stripping line at will ,after four straight runs it was now showing signs of tiring out I was pumping it closer and closer each time and then there was a big round ring of disturbed water amidst the waves and it surfaced for a few tantrums of tail splashing and then again after a while got a three second glimpse of the whole Magnificent Big Barra more than three feet long as it saw me !! it again zoomed towards the deeper waters with a renewed strength as if it had switched on some booster rockets from its tail, once again it was running like Ben Johnson Twisted Evil again doing what I feared most , going in Zig Zag motion sadly my line couldn't hold him any longer and the Fish was lost along with the lure, one meter long wire leader and lots of line .
As I stood there in a state of shock shaking my head I called out loudly " Verily O MY LORD there is Wisdom in All Your Actions and Only thou alone art the Giver and Taker of Life for all creatures big and small , thou has chosen it to LIVE , so Please free it from my dreadful lure and keep it happy and safe from the nets " - Ameen

I did not feel like fishing for the rest of the day and just wanted to savor those magical moments , after lunch my stubborn curiosity forced me to wait there till 4.30pm and investigate the place and to find out how & where he got lucky , at low tide the secret of the barra's escape route was finally revealed. series of rocks jutting out of the water forming a semicircle and at high tide they don't give a damn clue of their sinister presence

Extreme right picture of the spot where I played the Barra (see the rocks jutting out )

the middle picture of the spot
the extreme left view of the same spot

Guys this was the biggest Barra that I have hooked till date Smile and barras this big don't give up easily they come in only after completely exhausting and injuring themselves, most of the barras that I hooked did come like a tamed puppy after four runs and this definitely was the best fight any Barra has given me !! what a bundle of brute strength it was !!!
{remember the new car advertisement on tv ?? } I think I too can now say that it was not a Barra but it was a Baaaaaaaaarra Laughing
{ I know of one crazy angler from pune -a former state level swimmer who would have definately jumped in to the water to catch the fleeing barra if he was there with me that day Razz Bad Grin Laughing Laughing

@ Merwyn I know what you are thinking !! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil forget it !! I am not sharing this spot with you Razz Laughing Laughing Twisted Evil }

After two day's gap went fish again to another spot for a few hours of bait fishing and hooked this big fat Blubberlip Snapper enough to fill my icebox

I love to hook fat ones Wink

here is a pic taken in my friend  Dr Aamir's style Laughing
the friendly cows are waiting to watch the lion in action Cool
The bulls are not a bit worried if their cows get too close to the lion Wink
you see in Murud everyone Loves the lion's Company Cool except for a bunch of silly stray dogs Razz
