.Lion vs Leopard part-2.........2 in 1---> Short Fishing Trips in Busy times

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..Lion vs Leopard part-2
(2 in 1--->  Short Fishing Trips in Busy times )

Hello guys
I am back after three busy months while many of you were thinking that I wasn't  fishing but actually I did steal some time to do a couple of fishing trips from my busy schedule and managed to capture some fishy moments but there was not enough time to pen down my post so I am today clubbing the pictures and short narrations of my recent trips all in to one post
One particular incident happened this time while I was fishing, your friendly Lion came  face to face (20mteres)  with a Leopard ! yes you read it right ! :-) read all about the interesting encounter in the latter part of this blog

Where Eagles Dare , So does Lion

The nervous Eagle is aware of the Lion's presence and can be worriedly seen looking over its shoulder

No it's not a Thumbs up ! I'm just showing off my new Abu Garcia Fishing gloves  Lol....
Hathiyaar to hum shauk se rakhte hai
warna Khauf ke liye bus naam hi kaafi hai....lol..................its just my fishing gear ;-)

Lost couple of lures to some very nasty monsters who very cowardly ambushed my lures from behind sharp rocks , why don't they fight me face to face ??

Doesn't matter  you win some , you lose some, its all part of the game ;-)
Always remember guys ! Never let your Success get in to your head and your Failures get into your Heart .

Found this national flag probably fallen from some fishing boat and washed ashore, it seemed to have witnessed the rudeness of the angry Sun , the sweetness of the lovely Moon and the harshness of the weather for countless days
I secured it at a higher point Saluted it and moved on, while elsewhere in the country I know some idiots who have just limited the show of patriotism to token slogans while they lay farting in bed on every Independence day morning at the time of saluting the flag
Somewhere in Mumbai one mr Charcoal was spreading rumours that lion got only one barracuda ! LMAO    do you really think that one barracuda can satisfy my hunger ??  LOL  these two are just starters ;-)
a suggestion for you mr Koila ---> " Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear " especially from the locals  lol

Silver Breams were caught in plenty

Lionheart junior wants to have this whole barraduca for himself , so be it ! everyone's a king in the Lion's kingdom

Every sunrise brought with it a promise of an exciting new day of adventurous fishing

Here is one crazy Angler who is always ready for fishing anytime and he never trusts his rod with anyone  ( this picture became viral on Fb as several anglers shared it in their respective countries )

Lost a very big Barra as I fought and brought it closer just one meter to shore when the two hooks of this dammed lure yielded to pressure and straightened up :(

These red beauties are always an integral part of my diet ;-)

Freshly caught Fish were shared with locals and eaten daily , all my dinners by the seaside were made from the ones we caught
All such Delicious, Curvalicious Silver Beauties are more than welcome to suck my lures

One interesting incident that happened during one of my recent trip is that I was Fishing late at night on a place where there was dense forest on one side and a road running very close to the shore  somewhere in the vast Konkan region and all of a sudden a car stops screeching the brakes and and I hear someone frantically shouting and waving at me from the car , I sense that he is in to some trouble sensing an emergency situation and I just leave my line in the water , alert my partner to watch my line as I go and help them out .
At the car I notice a visibly shaken couple in their 40s with only 4 inches of glass windows down and both of them were talking at the same time and they both were repeating the same words "Bhai Bhago ! Bhago ! yahan mat ruko ! jao ! ( Run for your Life !!  Run ! don't stay here ! Go !) " I asked them to calm down and tell me whats the matter ?why do they don't want me here ? the male driver said " waagh hai ! waagh ! (Tiger is here ! Tiger !)  I declared " there are no Tigers in this part of Konkan !" he said "Sher hai ! sher ! ( Lion is here ! Lion ! ) " again I said " there are no Lions here either (I wanted to say except ME but then they would have fainted lol ) ! did you see a Bibtya  ? which was a local name for a Leopard ) "  yes ! yes ! a Leopard !" they confirmed  " where did you see it ? I asked, they said  he was spotted just 200 meters from here where the road bends sharply .   even my fishing partner who sensed something very wrong and had left both our lines in the water unattended and was right behind me , he had only partially  heard about a Leopard being 200mtrs away from us, he darted back and quickly reeled in all his line and was back to our car in a flash , while I thanked the couple for their timely help and bid them goodbye and they sped away as fast as they had come , I had no time to wind up my tackle so I left my tackle in as is condition with the line still in the water and sat in the car driving towards where Leopard was said to have been sighted, my partner yells out " Sayed bhai you're driving in the wrong direction ! why do you want to go towards the Leopard ? "  I said  " Why shouldn't I ? Lion has been fishing here for years and has only heard but never have come across a Leopard in his territory , have to see who this bugger is face to face ! you don't worry dear just keep the window glass rolled up "
As we drove slowly scanning the area 180degrees from of our respective sides we covered almost a kilometer and he was nowhere to be seen, we decided to turn back again towards our fishing spot thinking that no stranger will play such a prank, maybe the leopard was just passing thru, but as we neared our fishing spot just 200mtrs where the good Samaritan had warned us of the location of the Leopard . there he was ! right in the middle of the road !just 40metres from our car, and that scene was exactly like the one we see on the Discovery channel ! the Leopard was dragging a feebly struggling white stray dog by the neck, I realized that I was too close to his comfort and the Lion's close presence might make him very nervous, and how very right I was !  it panicked being caught under the strong beam of the car headlights and hurriedly crossed the road struggling and staggering with the weight of its kill  as we came near, it  tried to jump up a boulder which was half cut from the mountain to make way for the road , it failed , I had now lowered my side of the window glass and was following his every movement with a powerful hunting torch , finally after several attempts the very frightened leopard managed to climb on the rock and quickly disappeared in to the dark wilderness. we went back to our fishing spot and my partner was shocked when I decided to continue my fishing, he had thought I might wind up my tackle and want to get the hell out of there, I very well know that these wild animals are not greedy like us humans, they hunt and kill only when hungry, they never kill for pleasure, now that it had got its dinner now it won't be bothering us and will be quietly enjoying its meal and resting in some hidden place away from us "the Humans " we were the Encroachers"  this road was built by cutting thru the forest in to two parts and humans had settled and widened their presence everywhere, we are cutting down the trees shrinking their forest cover and even hunting down wild boars, rabbits and other animals which is generally considered to be a part of their food chain ! that's why they are forced to cross the roads and hunt down stray dogs to survive !I regularly see Foxes on the roads searching for the jungle mouse or frogs, such a sad development ! then again after sometime we heard another bloodcurdling final screams of another dog and far off in a distant village I could heard all the wailing and whimpering of the dogs for about an hour , I was confused as to why did the leopard make another kill ??? when it already had a dog which was enough to last him for two days ? but we silently continued fishing for two more hours until the bites stopped coming and moved to another place far from there.

Tonight this Konkani Lion and that Konkani Leopard both of us had successfully hunted and secured our kills and respected each others presence and moved on, but I don't know how long this silent and uneasy truce will last ?? after all you can't expect this friendly lion to always be good, forgiving , understanding and accommodating to a nomadic leopard ;-)
Lion was born and raised here in Konkan although he may be staying in Mumbai but he regularly hunts here and also marks his territory by pissing on every good tree that he finds on his way to Konkan and back ;-) LOL

the next day I got the answers of the questions which bogged my mind thru the rest of the night . my local friends told me how they had stopped venturing out after dark since two Leopards have moved into that area and were seen prowling around between 10pm to 5pm , goats too have disappeared along with dogs.
after all these years of fearless fishing alone at nights on the Konkan shores just one such instance can never influence the lion's fishing habit, for GOD the Good LORD is my protector and sustainer of all creatures big and small , nothing happens without his will and knowledge

Dost mujhe Lionheart aur Dushman aaj bhi Daddy ke naam se jaante hai
Friends call me " Lionheart " and Foes call me " Daddy "

Guys ! I wonder how many anglers have caught the REMORA ?
you guys can only imagine what kind of monster was caught that harbored these free hitchhikers called Remora  because I am not going to share the pics of those catches as they would jeopardize the secrecy of the locations :-P
I don't need any more publicity , I am already a known angler in the fishing circles hence I'll sacrifice a few hundred likes and kudos for preserving the sanctity of my secret fishing holes  ;-)

The Remora Fish or Echeneis naucrates or  commonly known as the sucker fish that clings on to big fish like sharks, manta rays , sting rays , was caught and punished briefly by releasing in to a small hole by the shore , the  incoming tide will release them in to the sea

You tube link for Remora the sucker fish given below

Good Bye Friends
until I see you again with another interesting fishy tale,
